Introduction

Today, I’m just going to ramble about Minecraft. Why? Because it’s the game I’ve played the longest—8 years and counting.

When I first started, I didn’t get the hype. It was so different from the games I usually loved. A sandbox game? What even is that? But slowly, I got hooked. Something about its mechanics and the sheer freedom it offered pulled me in. I mean, how many games let you dig a hole straight through a mountain just because you feel like it on day one?

Over the years, I’ve created countless worlds. Every update felt like an invitation to start fresh, to explore new maps and discover what’s changed. That’s the magic of Minecraft: it’s freedom in its purest form. And that’s why, after all this time, I still love it.

Journey

Sadly, finding time to play Minecraft or any game, it really is a luxury these days. But every now and then, I revisit my world, dust off my tools, and get back to work.

I’m not a master builder or a redstone wizard by any stretch, but I enjoy experimenting and figuring things out in my own way. That’s part of the charm for me. There’s no right or wrong way to play Minecraft, just my way of doing things is the best way.

Ever since the Caves and Cliffs update, I’ve been sticking to one world, slowly chipping away at it, literally and figuratively. Progress has been gradual, but there’s something deeply satisfying about taking my time, building piece by piece, and letting the world grow with me. It’s not just a game—it’s my little corner of endless creativity.

Influences

I can’t talk about Minecraft without tipping my hat to Pixelriffs. When I was just starting out and fumbling through the mechanics, I turned to YouTube for guidance. And there was the Minecraft Survival Guide series was a game-changer for me. It wasn’t just helpful; it was downright inspiring. I even played along with the series, building my own world alongside his. Sure, my builds didn’t look quite as polished, but the shared themes made it feel like I was part of the adventure.

Pixelriffs became a help and fun gateway. Through him, I discovered the wider Minecraft community and the magic of SMPs (Survival Multiplayer). Hermitcraft, EmpiresSMP, and the Life Series became my favorites. Watching these servers is such a delight. The creative, jaw dropping builds, the collaborative storytelling, the hilarious mini-games. Seeing players share the same world while putting their unique spin on it feels like a cozy community theater of creativity.

And I like to watch GeminiTay, Grian, Docm77, Rendog, BdoubleO100, Keralis, LDShadowLady, and the other Hermits and other players. They’re my literal productive time wasters. Every time I think I’ll just watch one video, I’m sucked into hours of jaw-dropping builds, shenanigans, and endless inspiration. They’ve turned “relaxing on YouTube” into a full blown hobby.

Whenever I get a chance, I go digging, chopping, building, or just exploring new places to build. So with that, I guess I’m gonna stop right here. I need to build a better creeper farm.
